Ingredients
- lean beef strips 5 oz
- broccoli 1 cup
- jasmine rice 1 cup
- soy sauce 1 tbsp
- sesame oil 1 tsp
Method
-
Prepare the ingredients.
Measure out 5 oz (141.8g) of lean beef strips. Rinse and cut broccoli into bite-sized florets if not pre-cut. Measure 1 cup (240g) cooked jasmine rice. Set aside 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp sesame oil.
Tip: Use kitchen shears or a sharp knife to cut broccoli florets evenly for uniform cooking. -
Steam the broccoli.
Place broccoli florets in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and steam for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Remove from heat and set aside.
Tip: Avoid overcooking broccoli to keep its vibrant color and nutrients. -
Cook the beef strips.
Heat a non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the lean beef strips and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
Tip: Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure the beef browns nicely instead of steaming. -
Combine beef and broccoli with sauce.
In the same pan, reduce heat to medium. Add the steamed broccoli and cooked beef back into the pan. Pour in 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp sesame oil. Stir well to coat all ingredients evenly. Cook for another 2 minutes to heat through and blend flavors.
Tip: Stir constantly to prevent sticking and evenly distribute the sauce. -
Serve with jasmine rice.
Place the cooked jasmine rice on a plate or bowl. Spoon the beef and broccoli stir fry over the rice. Serve immediately while hot.
Tip: Fluff the rice with a fork before serving for a light texture.
Pro tips
- For extra flavor, marinate the beef strips in a little soy sauce and garlic for 15 minutes before cooking.
- Use a hot pan and cook beef quickly to keep it tender and juicy.
