Ingredients
- Ground turkey (lean) 5 oz
- Lettuce leaves 3 large leaves
- Tomato slices 0.5 medium tomato
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
- Mustard 1 tsp
Method
-
Prepare the turkey patty.
Place the ground turkey in a bowl. Using your hands or a spoon, gently shape the turkey into a round patty about ¾ inch thick. Avoid packing it too tightly to keep the burger juicy.
Tip: Wet your hands slightly to prevent the meat from sticking while shaping the patty. -
Heat the pan and add oil.
Place a non-stick skillet or grill pan on medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and allow it to warm up for about 1 minute until shimmering but not smoking.
Tip: If you hear a slight sizzle when you add the patty, the pan is ready. -
Cook the turkey patty.
Place the turkey patty in the hot pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, so it forms a nice crust. Then flip carefully and cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) or the juices run clear.
Tip: Use a meat thermometer if you have one to check doneness, or cut into the center to ensure no pink remains. -
Prepare the lettuce and tomato.
While the patty cooks, wash and dry the lettuce leaves thoroughly. Slice half a medium tomato into thin slices. Set aside for assembling the wrap.
Tip: Pat the lettuce dry with paper towels to prevent sogginess. -
Assemble the burger wrap.
Place the cooked turkey patty on a large lettuce leaf. Spread 1 teaspoon of mustard on top of the patty, then add the tomato slices. Use the remaining two lettuce leaves to wrap around the patty and fillings, folding the edges to hold everything together.
Tip: Use the largest, sturdy lettuce leaves to make wrapping easier and prevent tearing.
Pro tips
- To keep the turkey burger juicy, avoid overworking the meat when shaping the patty.
- If you want extra flavor, add spices like garlic powder, onion powder, or black pepper to the turkey before cooking.
