Ingredients
- Lean ground beef patty 6 oz
- Brussels sprouts 1 cup
- Quinoa 1/2 cup cooked
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Garlic powder to taste
Method
-
Preheat Oven and Prepare Brussels Sprouts.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water, trim the ends, and cut them in half lengthwise. Place them in a bowl.
Tip: Cutting Brussels sprouts in half helps them roast evenly and get a nice caramelized surface. -
Season and Roast Brussels Sprouts.
Add half a tablespoon of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a pinch of garlic powder to the Brussels sprouts. Toss well to coat. Spread them out on a baking sheet in a single layer. Roast in the oven for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through for even cooking.
Tip: Roasting at high heat brings out the natural sweetness and crisps the edges. -
Prepare Quinoa.
If you don’t have cooked quinoa ready, rinse 1/4 cup dry quinoa under cold water. Combine it with 1/2 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes until water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork. If using pre-cooked quinoa, simply warm it up gently in a pan with a teaspoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt.
Tip: Rinsing quinoa removes its natural bitter coating called saponin. -
Cook the Lean Beef Patty.
Heat the remaining half tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Season the lean beef patty on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place the patty in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the meat is no longer pink inside.
Tip: Avoid pressing down on the patty while cooking to keep it juicy. -
Plate and Serve.
Place the cooked beef patty on a plate. Add the roasted Brussels sprouts alongside, and serve with the warm quinoa. Optionally, sprinkle a little extra black pepper or garlic powder on top for extra flavor.
Tip: Let the beef patty rest for a couple of minutes after cooking to retain its juices.

- Use a meat thermometer to ensure your beef patty is cooked safely and perfectly.
