Ingredients
- lean ground beef 6 oz
- small corn tortillas 3 pieces
- shredded lettuce 1/2 cup
- salsa 1/4 cup
- shredded cheddar cheese 1/4 cup
Method
-
Prepare Ingredients.
Gather all ingredients: lean ground beef, corn tortillas, shredded lettuce, salsa, and shredded cheddar cheese. Wash and dry the lettuce if not pre-shredded.
Tip: Use paper towels to pat lettuce dry to avoid soggy tacos. -
Cook the Ground Beef.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the 6 oz of lean ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked (about 7-8 minutes). Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Tip: Season with salt and pepper or taco seasoning if desired for extra flavor. -
Warm the Tortillas.
While the beef cooks, warm the 3 corn tortillas to make them pliable. You can do this by placing them in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side or wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.
Tip: Warming tortillas prevents cracking when folding. -
Assemble the Tacos.
Place the warmed tortillas on a plate. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef among the tortillas. Top each with shredded lettuce, then spoon 1/4 cup of salsa evenly over the tacos. Finally, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Tip: Add salsa last to keep the tortillas from becoming soggy. -
Serve and Enjoy.
Serve the tacos immediately while warm. Optionally, add lime wedges or fresh cilantro for extra zest.
Tip: Use a plate with a slight rim to catch any drips.
Pro tips
- To reduce fat, choose lean ground beef labeled 90% lean or higher.
- Warm tortillas just before assembling to keep them soft and flexible.
