Ingredients
- Canned tuna in water 5 oz
- Whole wheat bread 2 slices
- Light mayonnaise 1 tbsp
- Lettuce 1 leaf
- Tomato slices 3 slices
- Mixed greens 1 cup
- Balsamic vinaigrette 1 tbsp
Method
-
Prepare the tuna salad.
Open the canned tuna and drain out the water completely. In a small bowl, add the drained tuna and 1 tablespoon of light mayonnaise. Mix gently with a fork until well combined.
Tip: Use a fork to flake the tuna evenly for a better texture. -
Prepare the sandwich bread.
Place two slices of whole wheat bread on a clean surface. You can lightly toast them if you prefer a crunchier sandwich.
Tip: Toasting the bread adds texture and prevents sogginess from the tuna salad. -
Assemble the sandwich.
On one slice of bread, lay the washed lettuce leaf evenly. Then spread the tuna salad mixture on top of the lettuce. Add the tomato slices over the tuna. Cover with the second slice of bread.
Tip: Make sure the lettuce leaf covers the bread to act as a barrier and keep the bread from getting soggy. -
Prepare the side salad.
Place 1 cup of mixed greens in a small bowl. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinaigrette over the greens. Toss gently to coat the leaves evenly.
Tip: Toss the salad just before serving to keep the greens fresh and crisp.
