Ingredients
- whole wheat sandwich bread 2 slices
- turkey breast slices 130 g
- avocado 1/4 medium
- lettuce 1 cup
- tomato slices 3 slices
- mayonnaise 1 tbsp
- mixed greens 1 cup
- balsamic vinegar 1 tbsp
Method
-
Prepare the Ingredients.
Wash the lettuce and mixed greens thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Slice the tomato into 3 even slices. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out 1/4 medium avocado. Mash the avocado lightly with a fork in a small bowl.
Tip: Make sure the avocado is ripe but firm to avoid mushy texture. Drying the greens well prevents a soggy sandwich and salad. -
Assemble the Sandwich.
Take the two slices of whole wheat bread and spread the mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice. On one slice, layer the mashed avocado first, then place the turkey breast slices evenly on top. Add the lettuce and tomato slices over the turkey. Finally, cover with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down.
Tip: Spreading mayonnaise on both slices helps keep the sandwich moist and flavorful. -
Prepare the Side Salad.
Place the mixed greens in a small bowl. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the greens and toss gently to coat the leaves evenly. If you prefer, you can add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
Tip: Toss the salad just before serving to keep the greens fresh and crisp. -
Serve.
Cut the sandwich diagonally for easier handling and a nice presentation. Plate the sandwich alongside the dressed mixed greens. Enjoy your nutritious and tasty meal!
Tip: Using a sharp knife helps make clean cuts without squishing the sandwich.
Pro tips
- To prevent bread from becoming soggy, always spread mayonnaise or a thin layer of avocado first before adding wetter ingredients like tomato.
- If you want extra flavor, add a slice of cheese or a pinch of black pepper to the sandwich.
