Ingredients
- Whole wheat tortilla 1 large
- Sliced turkey breast 5 oz
- Fresh spinach 1 cup
- Hummus 2 tablespoons
- Tomato slices 3 pieces
Method
-
Prepare your workspace and ingredients.
Wash your hands thoroughly. Rinse fresh spinach leaves under cold water and pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Slice the tomato into three medium-thick slices. Lay out all your ingredients on a clean surface.
Tip: Dry spinach well to avoid soggy wrap. -
Warm the whole wheat tortilla.
To make the tortilla more pliable and easier to roll, warm it slightly. You can do this by placing it on a dry pan over medium heat for about 20 seconds on each side or microwaving it for 10 seconds wrapped in a damp paper towel.
Tip: Warming prevents the tortilla from cracking when rolling. -
Spread hummus on the tortilla.
Using a spoon or butter knife, evenly spread 2 tablespoons of hummus over the entire surface of the warm tortilla. This adds flavor and helps hold the wrap together.
Tip: Spread to the edges for full flavor in every bite. -
Layer the turkey slices.
Place the 5 oz of sliced turkey breast evenly over the hummus-covered tortilla, leaving about 1 inch border around the edges for easier rolling.
Tip: Overlap slices slightly for even coverage. -
Add spinach and tomato slices.
Evenly distribute the fresh spinach leaves over the turkey layer. Then place the three tomato slices on top of the spinach.
Tip: Avoid overfilling to make rolling easier. -
Roll the wrap.
Starting from one edge, carefully fold the tortilla over the fillings, tucking in the sides as you go to keep the ingredients inside. Roll tightly but gently until you have a compact wrap.
Tip: Use your fingers to keep fillings in place while rolling.
Pro tips
- If you want a warm wrap, you can toast it in a pan or sandwich press for 2-3 minutes after rolling.
- Add a little mustard or your favorite sauce for extra flavor.
