Ingredients
- Sliced turkey breast (deli, low sodium) 6 oz
- Whole wheat tortilla (large) 1 piece
- Lettuce 1 cup
- Sliced cucumber 0.5 cup
- Light mayonnaise 1 tbsp
Method
-
Prepare the vegetables.
Wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Slice the cucumber into thin rounds or half-moons to make them easy to bite into.
Tip: Dry lettuce well to prevent the wrap from becoming soggy. -
Lay out the tortilla.
Place the whole wheat tortilla flat on a clean cutting board or plate. This will be your base for assembling the wrap.
Tip: If the tortilla feels stiff, warm it slightly in a microwave for 10 seconds to make it more pliable. -
Spread the light mayonnaise.
Using a butter knife or the back of a spoon, evenly spread 1 tablespoon of light mayonnaise over the surface of the tortilla. This adds flavor and helps hold the wrap ingredients together.
Tip: Spread the mayo evenly but avoid the edges to prevent leakage when wrapping. -
Add the turkey slices.
Place the 6 ounces of sliced turkey breast evenly over the mayonnaise-covered tortilla, leaving about an inch of space around the edges. Arrange the slices so they cover the surface without overlapping too thickly.
Tip: If the slices are large, you can fold them to fit better inside the wrap. -
Layer the vegetables.
Add the washed lettuce leaves evenly on top of the turkey slices. Then distribute the sliced cucumbers over the lettuce.
Tip: Don't overfill the wrap to make rolling easier. -
Wrap it up.
Starting from one edge, carefully fold the tortilla over the filling, tucking in the sides as you roll to create a tight wrap. Continue rolling until the wrap is fully closed.
Tip: Use a toothpick to secure the wrap if needed before cutting. -
Serve or pack.
Cut the wrap in half diagonally for easier eating and serve immediately. Alternatively, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or foil to take it on the go.
Tip: Cutting diagonally makes the wrap look more appealing and easier to handle.
Pro tips
- Use fresh vegetables for the best crunch and flavor.
- Warming the tortilla slightly makes it easier to roll without cracking.
