Ingredients
- Sliced turkey breast 5 oz
- Large romaine lettuce leaves 3 leaves
- Hummus 2 tbsp
- Shredded carrots 1/4 cup
Method
-
Prepare the lettuce leaves.
Rinse the romaine lettuce leaves under cold water to remove any dirt. Gently pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Make sure the leaves are dry so the wraps don’t get soggy.
Tip: Use a salad spinner if you have one to dry the leaves quickly and thoroughly. -
Lay out the lettuce leaves.
Place the three large romaine leaves flat on a clean cutting board or plate. These will serve as the wrap base.
Tip: Arrange them so they slightly overlap to make wrapping easier. -
Add the hummus.
Spread about 2 tablespoons of hummus evenly over the center of each lettuce leaf. This adds flavor and helps hold the fillings together.
Tip: Use the back of a spoon to spread the hummus thinly and evenly. -
Layer the turkey slices.
Place the sliced turkey breast evenly on top of the hummus layer on each leaf. Try to distribute the turkey so each wrap has a good amount.
Tip: If the turkey slices are large, you can fold or cut them to fit better inside the wrap. -
Add shredded carrots.
Sprinkle about 1/4 cup of shredded carrots over the turkey on each leaf. The carrots add a nice crunch and sweetness.
Tip: You can also add other veggies like thin cucumber slices or bell peppers if you like. -
Wrap and serve.
Carefully fold the sides of each lettuce leaf over the filling and roll it up tightly to form a wrap. Secure with a toothpick if needed. Serve immediately for the freshest taste.
Tip: Eat with your hands or cut in half for easier handling.
Pro tips
- For extra flavor, add a squeeze of lemon juice or a sprinkle of your favorite herbs like parsley or dill inside the wrap.
- If you want to prepare ahead, keep the fillings and lettuce separate and assemble just before eating to prevent sogginess.
