Ingredients
- Whole wheat tortilla 1 large (71g)
- Sliced turkey breast 6 oz (170g)
- Spinach leaves 1 cup (30g)
- Avocado 1/2 medium (68g)
- Mustard 1 tbsp (15g)
Method
-
Prepare the avocado.
Cut the avocado half in half again to create a quarter, then scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Place the avocado in a small bowl and mash it lightly with a fork until creamy but still slightly chunky.
Tip: If your avocado is not ripe, it will be hard to mash; choose one that yields slightly when gently pressed. -
Lay out the tortilla.
Place the whole wheat tortilla flat on a clean surface or plate. This will be the base for your wrap.
Tip: If the tortilla is stiff, warm it slightly in the microwave for 10 seconds to make it more pliable. -
Spread mustard and avocado.
Using a spoon or butter knife, spread the mustard evenly over the surface of the tortilla. Then, spread the mashed avocado on top of the mustard layer, covering most of the tortilla but leaving about an inch border around the edges.
Tip: Spreading mustard first helps the avocado stick better and adds tangy flavor. -
Add turkey and spinach.
Place the sliced turkey breast evenly over the avocado layer. Then, top the turkey with fresh spinach leaves, spreading them out so they cover the turkey completely.
Tip: Use fresh spinach leaves that are dry to avoid sogginess in the wrap. -
Roll up the wrap.
Starting from one edge, carefully fold the tortilla over the filling and continue rolling tightly until the wrap is fully closed. Use your hands to gently press and keep the wrap tight.
Tip: If desired, you can secure the wrap with a toothpick or cut it in half diagonally to serve.
Pro tips
- Use ripe avocado for the best creamy texture and flavor.
- Warming the tortilla briefly makes rolling easier and prevents cracks.
