Ingredients
- Whole wheat bread 2 slices
- Turkey breast slices 4 oz
- Lettuce 1 leaf
- Tomato 3 slices
- Mustard 1 tsp
Method
-
Prepare the ingredients.
Wash the lettuce leaf thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat it dry gently with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel. Slice the tomato into three even slices about 1/4 inch thick.
Tip: Dry lettuce helps prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy. -
Toast the bread (optional).
If you prefer a warm and slightly crispy sandwich, lightly toast the two slices of whole wheat bread until golden brown. This step is optional and can be skipped if you like soft bread.
Tip: Toast just enough to keep bread soft inside but with a slight crunch outside. -
Spread mustard on bread.
Take one slice of bread and spread 1 teaspoon of mustard evenly on one side using the back of a spoon or a butter knife. This adds flavor and moisture to the sandwich.
Tip: Adjust mustard amount to your taste if you prefer it more or less tangy. -
Layer the turkey slices.
Place the 4 ounces (about 4 slices) of turkey breast evenly on top of the mustard-spread slice. Make sure the slices cover the bread surface for even flavor.
Tip: Use thinly sliced turkey for easier stacking and better texture. -
Add lettuce and tomato.
Place the washed lettuce leaf on top of the turkey slices. Then carefully add the 3 tomato slices on top of the lettuce. This adds freshness and crunch.
Tip: Use a gentle hand to avoid squishing the tomato slices. -
Assemble the sandwich.
Place the second slice of whole wheat bread on top of the tomato slices, pressing down gently to hold all ingredients together.
Tip: Press gently to keep sandwich intact but avoid squeezing out the fillings. -
Cut and serve.
Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich diagonally into two halves for easy handling. Serve immediately with your favorite side or enjoy as is.
Tip: A serrated knife works best for clean cuts without squashing the sandwich.
Pro tips
- To keep the sandwich fresh longer, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper.
- Add a slice of cheese or avocado for extra flavor and nutrition.
